Dear Band/Guard Parents:
On behalf of the LaVergne High School Band Booster Officers, I would like to personally welcome each of you to an exciting 2009/2010 band season. We will be having our Band Orientation meeting on June 4th at 6:30 PM in the auditorium at LHS. This is a mandatory meeting.
The 2009-2010 LHS Band Handbook, is in the Documents section for you to print or read at your leisure. Please read all of this information thoroughly. These are the rules that you will be expected to follow throughout the year. There is vital information in this booklet.
Before this meeting, please go to the Documents section of this site. We are asking that you print the forms for the 2009-2010 school year, complete them, have them notarized, and bring them with you that evening.
I look forward to serving you this year as your President. If at any
time you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me
or any of the Booster Officers.
Thank you,
Jeff Hunter
We will not have a notary available that evening. The forms required to be turned in that evening are:
1. Travel Permission/Emergency Medical Forms,
2. Signature Page from the 09/10 Parent/Student Handbook,
3. Parent Information Form, and
4. Financial Contract.
Without these forms, the student will not be permitted to begin band camp.
As a reminder, band camp and marching fees are $260.00 (Band camp fees must be paid in full before the first day of band camp, July 13.) The competition Food Fee is $30.00. The fair share balance is $500.00 which can be worked off through fundraisers. The uniform fee will be $100.00. Guard students who do not participate in concert band have a fair share balance of $350.
Students must bring two 12 packs of Coca Cola products, these include Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, etc. The reason we ask for Coca Cola products is because the county has a contract with Coke. Students must also bring two 24 packs of bottled water and 2 containers of powdered Gatorade. These items will be used throughout the marching season to provide liquids for the students. If at any time we run low, we may have to request more. Please make sure that these items are labeled with the child’s name and/or checked off the list by an officer or volunteer.

Local Students
Selected For The MACY'S Great American Marching Band
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and Music Festivals combine to create select
marching ensemble.
Reading, PA / New York, NY - Michael Pagan, Brooks Hunter, Tyler Mingle and
Elise Jones, student members of the LaVergne High School Marching Wolverine
Band under the direction of Edward Freytag and Chris Crumley, have been
selected to participate in the 2008 MACY'S Great American Marching Band as four
of the select number of students from Tennessee. At this time, the
LaVergne musicians are the only students that have been selected from the
state. The Band is celebrating the 82nd anniversary of the Macy's
Thanksgiving Day Parade and will lead Santa Claus into Herald Square on
November 27, 2008.
The students were selected based on their musical abilities, past achievements
and audition materials. The opportunity was open to students from over
14,000 high schools across the United States.
Stepping-off from Central Park, the Band will be cheered by 2.5 million live
spectators before arriving at Macy's Herald Square for their national
performance for more than 50 million TV viewers watching the broadcast live on
NBC.
The students will have the chance to participate in this prestigious band with
over 200 students representing every state. The musicians, under the
direction of Dr. Richard Good, Auburn University, and Ohio State University's
Dr. Jon Woods, will be complemented by approximately 50 flags and dancers
choreographed by Greg Lagola of the famed Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps of
Pennsylvania.
Dr. Good is the Director of Bands at Auburn University in Auburn, AL.
From Columbus, OH, Dr. Woods is a Professor of Music Education as well as
the director of the award-winning, "Pride of the Buckeyes" Ohio State
University Marching Band. Lagola is a member of the creative team for the
Cadets, who are nine-time World Champions and the oldest and most honored Drum
& Bugle Corps in the world.
The LaVergne students will also have the opportunity to attend workshops led by
Scott Lang, founder of Scott Lang Leadership Seminars. The workshops will
focus on leadership and encourage students to achieve their maximum potential.
Contact Edward Freytag, Director of Bands and Fine Arts Chair at LaVergne High
School for information concerning these students and the Macy's event.
